MIAMI – WrestleMania XXVIII festivities kicked off in high gear Wednesday at a press conference that ended with a main-event faceoff between hometown hero The Rock and John Cena a mere four days before their “Once in a Lifetime” match.

Although The Great One and the Cenation leader expressed the utmost respect for one another’s accomplishments prior to the photo op, neither Superstar could hide his desire to tear into the other Sunday. The Rock promised to give Cena a “Hurricane [butt]-kicking of a lifetime,” and Cena said he has been waiting his entire life for their WrestleMania match.

“I couldn’t ask for a grander stage or a bigger opponent,” said Cena, a former 10-time WWEChampion.

The Rock told reporters that Cena’s achievements run “a mile long.”

“It's going to be an honor for me to step in the ring with John Sunday,” he said.

The explosive press conference – which was streamed live on WWE.com, YouTube and Facebook –  officially ushers in the many WrestleMania activities happening in South Beach this weekend, including numerous community-outreach events and charity fundraisers, the annual Fan Axxess event, unprecedented social media coverage and the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012 induction ceremony.

Taking place at Sun Life Stadium, The Show of Shows itself – WrestleMania XXVIII – airs live on pay-per-view Sunday, with a special start time of 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. WWE’s stay in Miami culminates with a live broadcast of Raw SuperShow from American Airlines Arena Monday night.“Our goal is not only to host the WWE Universe this week, but for WWE to return to our community again very soon,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, who declared March 28-April 2, 2012, as “WrestleMania XXVIII Week” in the county and presented WWE with the Key to Miami-Dade County.

Seventy-thousand fans from all 50 states and 36 countries are expected to arrive in Miami for WrestleMania events, Diaz said. In total, an estimated 125,000 members of the WWE Universe will be taking part in various activities throughout the week, according to John Saboor, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Special Events.

Although it was the parting comments from The Rock and Cena left the Eden Rock Hotel press area abuzz, other Superstars – including WWE Champion CM Punk, Triple H and Divas Champion Beth Phoenix – spoke about the significance of performing on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Triple H, appearing both as a participant in Sunday’s “End of an Era” Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker and as WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, called WrestleMania “an important rite of passage for any member of the WWE Universe.”

“For all the talent on the WWE roster, participating in WrestleMania means being a part of history,” he said, before vowing to make history by stopping The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Steak at 19-0.

In addition to being the WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania XXVIII is also the social media event of the year, said press conference host Michael Cole. He introduced Team Teddy representatives Kofi Kingston and United States Champion Santino Marella, Team Johnny members David Otunga and The Miz, as well as Ricardo Rodriguez –all of whom were live-tweeting from the event.

Cole also invited live-stream viewers to tweet their questions for the Superstars, using the hashtag #WrestleMania. After the press conference ended, the questions were answered via @WrestleMania. This year’s WrestleMania is expected to bring Superstars and the WWE Universe closer together than ever before, with an unprecedented number of Superstars live-tweeting from events in Miami.

Also in attendance Wednesday was Mike Pouncey, the starting center for WWE’s partner, the Miami Dolphins. A member of the 2009 Florida Gators National Championship team, Pouncey joked that he would be at Sun Life Stadium to lend Cena or The Rock a hand, should either Superstar need it.

With WrestleMania week officially under way, the WWE Universe is invited to share its thoughts and sentiments on Twitter, using the hashtage #WrestleMania.

WWE Raw Results 2012-03-26

WWE Raw Results:
Daniel Bryan and Kane def. Randy Orton and Sheamus
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and Kane made big statements in a Tag Team Match with WrestleMania implications. The duo of Bryan and Kane looked impressive in defeating Sheamus and Randy Orton, as Bryan wore down The Great White with punishing kicks and Kane inflicted some painful strikes on The Viper.

But it was some timely distraction from Bryan's girlfriend, AJ, which ultimately threw Sheamus off his game when he tried to deliver a Brogue Kick, and allowed Bryan to capitalize for the pinfall following a chokeslam from Kane on The Great White.

Will Orton and Sheamus be able to get retribution and win when it matters most in Miami?

Santino Marella def. David Otunga; The Miz named to Team Johnny:
Before the match, announcers Michael Cole and Booker T made their allegiances clear for the battle between Team Johnny and Team Teddy, with Cole introducing Interim Raw GM John Laurinaitis and Booker T siding with SmackDown GM Teddy Long. David Otunga took early control of the match and did some bragging mid-match by waving the Team Johnny Flag, before Hornswoggle interfered provided the perfect opening for Santino to strike with The Cobra.

After the contest, Santino got on all fours as Long pushed Laurinaitis over him. As Laurinaitis steamed, The Miz ran out to seize the opportunity to stick up for the Interim Raw GM and hit the Skull Crushing Finale on Santino. Clearly impressed by The Awesome One's defense, Laurinaitis named The Miz as the final member of Team Johnny at WrestleMania XXVIII. The Miz is going to WrestleMania, after all!

Kelly Kelly def. Eve:
t looks like Eve has a new best friend – one that's toting some championship gold over her shoulder. Divas Champion Beth Phoenix proudly accompanied Eve to the ring for her match with Kelly Kelly -- a prelude to the Tag Team Match that will take place on April 1 between Kelly and "Extra" host Maria Menounos against Eve and Beth.
Perhaps brimming with a little too much confidence, Eve missed the mark with her signature moonsault from the top rope and Kelly Kelly took advantage for the victory. You can bet it'll be a tougher challenge once the Divas Champion is awaiting the tag in Eve's corner at WrestleMania.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Christian ended in a No Contest:
Just when you thought CM Punk's rivalry with Chris Jericho couldn't get any more personal, Jericho makes sure it does. Before Punk squared off with Christian, The Straight Edge Superstar got another heated video message from Jericho, who appeared live via satellite on the TitanTron. Jericho proceeded to make personal remarks about Punk's birth, alleging that it occurred before his parents' wedding date, and claiming that makes Punk "the legal definition of a bastard."

Christian tried to make a surprise attack on Punk from behind, but it was the enraged WWE Champion who quickly took out his aggression on Captain Charisma. Punk had to be separated by WWE officials after he repeatedly smashed Christian into the announce table, then refused to let go of the painful Anaconda Vise. It's become very apparent that Jericho has gotten inside Punk's head. The question is whether or not it will work to Jericho's benefit for their "Best in the World" clash at WrestleMania.

UPDATE: Christian re-aggravated his neck injury due to Punk's attack, and has been ruled medically unable to compete at WrestleMania.

Brodus Clay def. Curt Hawkins:
The funk train keeps on rolling!

Brodus Clay made quick work of Curt Hawkins with an assortment of power moves, then showed off his assortment of booty-shaking dance moves for the Atlanta crowd.
Big Show def. Primo:
Big Show didn't waste any time dealing with the much smaller Primo. The World's Largest Athlete laid out one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions with a crushing chokeslam, and then delivered a chokeslam to his partner Epico for good measure.

After the match, Cody Rhodes again mocked Big Show, who tried to go after the Intercontinental Champion as soon as he appeared on the entrance way. Cody claimed that Big Show will be the "biggest fool" on April Fool's Day – the same date as WrestleMania XXVIII. We'll soon find out if Rhodes is able to back up all the trash talking he's done over the past few weeks.

Mark Henry def. The Great Khali; Booker T named to Team Teddy:
It's no wonder he's known as The World's Strongest Man. Team Johnny member Mark Henry overpowered Team Teddy member The Great Khali with a major exclamation point – a remarkable World's Strongest Slam on The Punjabi Giant.

Henry didn't stop there, though. The mighty Superstar prepared to pancake SmackDown GM Teddy Long before the other members of Team Teddy interfered, and Team Johnny wasn't far behind as the two squads engaged in an all-out brawl. Right as Henry was about to drop Long with the World's Strongest Slam, Booker T made the surprise save. Long then thanked Booker by offering him the final spot on Team Teddy at WrestleMania. Booker accepted the invite with a smile – and a Spinaroonie!

The Rock and John Cena had their final face-off before WrestleMania:
Keeping with his theme of history lessons, The Rock took the crowd down memory lane and reminded them of one of his most memorable matches in Atlanta. The Great One said there's only one man that the millions – and millions – wanted The Great One to face at WrestleMania, and that's John Cena. It wouldn't take long for his WrestleMania opponent to interrupt, as Cena came out to the ring to stop The Rock before he got any further with his verbal assault.

Cena noted The Rock is great at talking trash, but he definitely isn't the first to do so, and that every time someone tries to rip the leader of Cenation, he rises above the hate. Cena went on to say that he's been an active member of WWE longer than The Rock, and unlike The Great One, he's stuck with WWE in both good times and bad. Cena said the WWE Universe knows that he has to win this match, because his entire life is riding on it.

The Rock answered by explaining why he knows he needs to win, and that he's driven by the fact that he can cement his legacy as the greatest WWE Superstar of all time by defeating Cena at WrestleMania. On a personal level, The Great One said he just doesn't like Cena and promised him the ass-kicking of a lifetime. Cena closed with some final heated words before dropping the mic as the two rivals exchanged fiery staredowns nose to nose.

WWE: 10 Wrestlers That Should Break Through After WrestleMania 28

With WrestleMania 28 only a week away, many wrestling critics and fans are looking past the big event to the upcoming WWE year.

The months following WrestleMania traditionally feature big shake-ups in the Raw and Smackdown brands, which may include the abolition of brand-extension this year.

At the very least, some talent will likely be let go or sent down to FCW over the coming months and new wrestlers will be added to the roster to inject new blood in both of the flagship shows.

While wrestlers like CM Punk, John Cena and Randy Orton will continue to have a banner year as top talent, the following 10 wrestlers seemed destined to receive their first or second pushes in the coming wrestling year and breakthrough on the mid-card.

SmackDown Results 2012-03-23:

*  WWE Champion CM Punk & Sheamus def. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan & The Miz:
As The Road to WrestleMania raged on, WWE Champion CM Punk and Sheamusjoined forces against World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan & The Miz. Also, Big Show locked horns with Kane while Team Teddy continued to battle Team Johnny for an advantage heading to The Showcase of the Immortals.

The Second City Saint journeyed to Friday nights, just nine days before he will put his WWE Title on the line against Chris Jericho in what has become an extremely personal WrestleMania showdown . Together with Sheamus, he would battle World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan – whom The Celtic Warrior will challenge at The Show of Shows – and The Miz – who has been completely unsuccessful at getting a match on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Just when Bryan looked be in trouble with The Great White in the fierce tag team main event, the calculating champion quickly tagged himself out, leaving Miz to fend for himself as he took off up the ramp with AJ and his title following close behind him. Sheamus finished off his remaining opponent with the Brogue Kick.
The Great Khali def. Dolph Ziggler by Count-out:

Christian joined the SmackDown announce team, as his fellow Team Johnny cohort Dolph Ziggler battled newly recruited Team Teddy member The Great Khali.
With the action in full swing, Ziggler put his gigantic adversary in the sleeper hold. Before Khali had a chance to escape, Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis personally rang the bell, informing the WWE Universe that The Show-Off Superstar had won the match by submission.

However, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long quickly overturned that ruling, declaring that the match would continue. He told Dolph to return to the ring or he would be counted-out. He refused and as a result – once the referee reached the 10-count – Khali was awarded the victory.

After the bell, Team Teddy members Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella sprinted down the ramp, delivering Ziggler back into the ring. This allowed Khali to take him down with a devastating Punjabi Chop.
Brodus Clay def. Heath Slater:

The Funkasaurus was in full effect, busting a wicked groove both before and after overcoming Health Slater with an earth-shattering splash.

Somebody call The One Man Southern Rock Band’s momma!
Big Show def. Kane by Disqualification:
Moments after Big Show hit a chokeslam on Kane, Cody Rhodes came out of nowhere to attack his WrestleMania Intercontinental Title No. 1 contender  forcing the referee to call for the bell and award The World’s Largest Athlete a giant victory by disqualification. As Big Show chased Rhodes into the crowd, Randy Orton emerged, hitting The Big Red Monster with the RKO just nine days before their clash at WrestleMania.
Zack Ryder def. Jack Swagger:
Following up his bold WWE Universe rally on Raw SuperShow Monday – in which he lobbied to become part of Team Teddy at WrestleMania – Zack Ryder informed SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long that if he was accepted onto the team, The Great Khali would join as well – with Hornswoggle as the mascot. This proposal included The Punjabi Giant decked out as a super-sized Long Island Iced-Z which led to a resounding “yes” from Teddy on all counts.

Later, when newly installed Team Teddy mascot Hornswoggle chased Vickie Guerrero up onto the apron, the momentary break in the action caused by the disruption allowed Long Island Iced-Z to regain his composure and hit the Rough Ryder on Jack Swagger for the win.
AJ def. Brie Bella:
After Brie Bella accidently knocked her sister Nikki off the ring apron, AJ rolled up her opponent for another huge win. Following the match, her boyfriend World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan celebrated fiercely, as if he himself had won the match.
While he walked up the ramp, continuing to coach his victorious girlfriend in a rather overbearing fashion, Nikki addressed the upcoming battle of the GMs at WrestleMania. Revealing that Brie is rooting for Team Johnny, Nikki led the WWE Universe in a pro-Team Teddy cheer.
Mark Henry def. R-Truth:
In a battle between imminent WrestleMania tag team adversaries
Team Teddy’s R-Truth leaped at Mark Henry from the top rope. But, The World’s Strongest Man caught him in mid-air, executing The World’s Strongest Slam for the sound victory.
AJ’s praise of World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan cut short by Sheamus:
With Daniel Bryan prompting and correcting her time and time again, AJ expounded on all the qualities she admires in her boyfriend – including his ability to make her feel safe, what a great lover he is and how he will make Sheamus tap-out at WrestleMania to continue on his path to becoming “the greatest of all time.”

Sheamus soon interrupted, throwing his two cents in about Bryan by calling him a “sniveling little coward.” At WrestleMania, The Great White promised to “kick [Bryan’s] teeth down his throat.”

WWE News: Triple H Ready to Push FCW Talent to Main Roster

According to Wrestlinginc.com, several FCW talents such as Husky Harris, Damien Sandow, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are being considered for a big push to the WWE main roster.
It has also been reported by the site that Triple H is not going to debut the talent without weeks of build for them, and also a story-line mapped out for them first.
Allegedly, another one of Triple H's ideas is not to debut the talent around the same time.
These FCW talents have been working promotion for quite some time, and most wrestling fans are in agreement that they should have been pushed to the main roster sooner.
With the current situation of the FCW promotion in transit to another location, putting some of it's talent to the WWE roster is a good move, considering the lack of depth of it's current roster.
Some wrestling fans question the whole developmental system as a whole, the question being whether or not it is actually honing wrestlers skills or just holding them back.
Considering that several wrestlers from other promotions such as Ring of Honor are currently training in FCW, it begs the question of if they really need to be in a developmental territory?
Hopefully if these FCW talents do make it to the main WWE roster, they will have ample time to get a decent push and to develop into long term bankable WWE superstars.
